Tbilisi Tour

Visit Georgia’s ancient capital and religious centre, Mskheta

Mtskheta is the religious centre of Georgia and it is home to many of Georgia’s holiest sites. King Mirian III and Queen Nana, who were the first of Georgia’s kings and queens to convert to Christianity, are buried in the Samtavro Monastery. The origial site dates back to the 4th century. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the second largest church in Georgia and the burial site of many of Georgia’s kings, is also located in Mskheta. 

Perched on a promontory above the town of Mskheta and on the opposite side of the Aragvi River is the Jvari Monastery, which dates back to the ninth century. The monastery stands at the top of a hill looking down on the confluence of two of Georgia’s largest rivers-the Mtkvari and Aragvi.  Have lunch in a local restaurant before returning to Tbilisi.

Visit to the town of Gori and the Museum of Joseph Stalin

Visit the city of Gori and the Stalin Museum. Gori was the birthplace of Joseph Stalin and is located 90km west of Tbilisi. The Stalin Museum includes the preserved house in which Stalin was born and the train carriage in which Stalin toured the Eastern Front as well as many exhibits related to his life and career. On the return journey visit a local winery and enjoy tasting Georgian wine and a late lunch.

Visit to the Cave Town of Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock-hewn town and has been identified by archaeologists as one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia. Its earliest remaining structures are from the beginning of the 1st millennium AD. Explore the caves and tunnels that remain on this historic site and learn more of its fascinating history. On the return journey visit a local winery and enjoy tasting Georgian wine and a late lunch.
