In October 2019 Ampthill RUFC U17s spent a week in Georgia organised by Pam and Zura with Travel Eurasia. I have been on countless rugby tours all round the world over the past 40 years as a player and as a coach and can honestly say that this one was unique.
Our hosts were totally dedicated to us enjoying the country and having an unforgettable rugby experience. We felt in a safe pair of hands from the moment we landed at Kutaisi and throughout our unforgettable Tbilisi experience.
The passion for rugby in Georgia would put most countries to shame and Zura’s connections are all genuine rugby people so the matches were great contests.
Finally, everything you hear about the food, wine and Georgian hospitality is completely true – get there before everyone realises what great value it offers!

Pam & Zura put together a bespoke trip for us covering Tbilisi, Kazbegi, Svaneti, Guria, Adjara and Mtskheta. We enjoyed a mix of hiking in the High Caucasus, visits to sights of historic, cultural and environmental interest and an insight into Georgian customs and traditions. The organisation of the itinerary was flawless and the accommodation throughout excellent and exceeded expectations in terms of comfort, hospitality and quality of cuisine. Our guide and driver Giorgi was a mine of information and knowledge about Georgian history, traditions, ecology, ornithology, food, drink, regional politics and the warmest possible travelling companion. Highlights were walking in Svaneti and Kazbegi amongst magnificent mountain scenery, with glaciers, waterfalls, lakes and wildflowers, visits to, ancient Churches, museums, caves and historic sights and the exceptional Botanical Gardens in Batumi. Pam kept in close touch before and during the visit and was always on hand to answer questions.
