It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a year since we set up the Tbilisi Mixed Amateur Rugby Club. We’ve had so many fantastic people from all over the world join us- some who have played before (even professionally) and some who have never held a rugby ball in their lives. We now regularly have enough players for two six-person teams, a referee and even some subs! It’s also brilliant to have got to the stage of having a proper pitch to play on (QSI School,Dighomi)- light years away from playing at the Old Hippodrome, which, although centrally located was no good once the club numbers started increasing.
The introduction of the monthly social by Idy Chung, who joined us from formerly playing contact rugby in Hong Kong, is a great initiative and has allowed us all to get to know each other better and socialise outside of rugby practice. We’ll also be supporting Georgia (and a host of other teams) in the test matches this autumn!
How to join us? We play at QSI School,Dighomi every Saturday at 11am (beginners are welcome and are encouraged to arrive a bit early to get a briefing from the old timers.)
